Movie Night: Elf

"Buddy the Elf... What's your favorite color?"

Oh, we love this movie.  We quote it all year long!  Elf is the best!

Although we are deeply devoted to Friday movie nights, we did this one on a weekday.  At Christmas you have to fit all those favorites in somehow!  I had a plan to make waffles, eggs and bacon for dinner (since Buddy loves syrup) but at the last minute plans changed.  My husband stopped in for lunch at one of his favorite family-owned restaurants that day and they sent him home with tons of food for our family.  What an unexpected act of kindness!  No cooking for me!  So instead of the table, I decorated our island and we served ourselves buffet style.

I LOVE my little light box.  It's from Walmart but only available in stores.  (I did discover it doesn't come with any question marks!)

I found this Buddy the Elf wrapping paper at Party City and just covered our little island.

This Buddy the Elf hat is also from Party City.  It's embarrassing how much joy it brings me.

These little napkins were in my stash.

Of course we had to drink out of these!  I found lots of other Elf merch for you too!

I'm pretty sure I need to watch this movie again before the season is over.  It's just the best.

I'll call you in five minutes!

This guy.  I feel like he's a polarizing figure.  Am I right?  Moms either love him or boycott him.  Or bemoan dealing with him all December long.  Well, I think he's a good time.  We love our elf, Percy.   He doesn't get into extravagant mischief or get discovered having romantic interludes with Barbie.  The kids just have fun finding him each morning and that's the extent of it.  So, yes, I am pro-elf!

Our first movie night of the Christmas season is usually An Elf's Story to coincide with the little guy's arrival.  I also love ALL THE ELF MERCH.

The plates are from Pottery Barn Kids and the other stuff is mostly from Zulily.  I periodically search "Elf on the Shelf" on Zulily just to see what's shakin'.

We had kind of a "fakesgiving" meal of turkey breast, cranberry sauce and apple dressing.  For dessert I dug into my stash (see?  I love the merch) and made cupcakes with these.

The icing was kind of a fail but hey, you can tell they're homemade.  I usually find the Elf on the Shelf baking supplies at Target.

Speaking of merch, last year I bought this elf door and it is seriously the cutest thing going.

An Elf's Story is a sweet, fun little movie to kick off the holiday season... a season with so many favorite movies ahead!

This time of year we watch all the Charlie Brown cartoons.  They are sweet, safe and short.  (Can I get an amen that sometimes you want the kid movie to be short?)  Plus there's one for every holiday... like Thanksgiving!

I found these darling turkey napkins at Swoozies, put them on my mustard yellow plates and called it a day.  They are super cute!  The foil just makes it.

Don't be jealous of my amazing chalk art skills.  Ha.  I love my pumpkin-shaped chalk board from Chalk Ink.  I have a Texas one too!

For dinner, I wanted something easy at the end of a long week.  I mentioned picking up Honeybaked Ham and my husband and son got super excited.  So there ya go.  I picked up some ham and two of their super-easy heat-and-serve sides.  Done.  It's a treat for us, but so hassle-free at the same time.  Plus, it's the kind of meal you tend to enjoy during the holidays.

I hope your Thanksgiving week is also hassle-free, full of good food and lots of time with people you love.  I'm thankful for each of you who read here!
