We soared through the galaxy for Disney's A Wrinkle in Time.  As you can see, this was a simple theme to pull off, but such a different way to dress up our dinner table!

I simply wrinkled up a black tablecloth and scattered these stars all over.

The result was magical!

My kids are both really into the galaxy pattern these days so the napkins were a big hit.  The extras will be appearing in their lunchboxes once school resumes.

I LOVED our dessert.  I found this recipe and made "Galaxy Bars"... only I switched up the sprinkles with these.   I thought they turned out so pretty and they were absolutely delicious.

I was excited about this movie because it features some of my favorite ladies (translation: imaginary BFF's) but I will warn you that it can be a little scary for some kids.  You can get a good review of the content here.

There are spiritual lessons to be found in this one too.  Get lost in the galaxy this weekend with A Wrinkle in Time.

Movie Night: Alex & Me

We stumbled across this movie and it is just darling.  If you have any soccer players in your home, this is for you!

Alex & Me features real-life soccer star Alex Morgan as herself in a story of a young player trying to find her way.  I love that it's rated G, but definitely not something my kiddos would consider a "baby movie."  You can rent it on Amazon Video here or buy the DVD here.

I was excited to roll out my turf I bought for my Father's Day Brownie Sundae Bar.  It was a perfect "tablecloth" for this movie night.

I didn't want to put a dirty soccer ball on the table, but my son's jerseys made a fitting addition to the centerpiece.

Soccer ball plates and paper napkins tied around the flatware with a little ribbon finish out the table.

No movie night is complete without an after-dinner treat.  We just love mixing popcorn and Caramel M&M's for that delightful salty and sweet combo.  A friend gave me these Kate Spade popcorn bowls for Christmas.  Aren't they cute?

This little gem of a movie is fun for boys and girls alike, and suitable for all ages.  In other words, it's a winning strategy for a successful family movie night!

Movie Night: Dumbo

This movie night will have you flying high on sugar! The circus theme is simple and fun, affording plenty of tasty treats.   A summer dinner off the grill and plenty of movie snacks make this one a great fit for a July evening.

Cotton candy, animal crackers and circus animal cookies... don’t tell the dentist!   Sure, just one of these would suffice, but I’m not known for restraint.  All this paired with a Disney classic film, what’s not to love?

This movie is sweet, sometimes sad, and also timeless.  It’s great to share movies we remember from childhood with our own family.

You can take the circus theme as far as you wish, or keep it low-key like us.  Either way, you’ll fall in love with Dumbo all over again.
