Movie Night

Movie Night: Follow Me, Boys!

Disney, Movie NightAmy WileyComment

We took movie night on the road with us to a cabin the mountains and it was such a delight.  I simply chose a movie I felt would fit the setting and packed the DVD, some paper goods, and some treats.  It added an extra touch to our relaxing weekend away.

We had quite the view and I got to ring an actual dinner bell to call my children in from outside, which was perfection.

This movie night centered around the Disney classic Follow Me, Boys! which turned out to be a really fitting choice.  I set up a woodsy table to play to the outdoor themes.

I hadn't seen this movie in ages and it completely charmed me.  I told my husband it made me wish I lived in 1930!  Kurt Russell is just a boy in this film and he is absolutely darling.  I found some camo jelly beans and they added a fun touch.

We ate steaks, potatoes and salad and finished off the night with blondies by the fire as we watched the movie.  It was a sweet way to spend one of our evenings away and added an extra cherry on top of our family time.

Happy Friday!

Movie Night: Black Panther

This movie night proves it doesn't take much to pull off a theme.  In this case, I just bought a pack of napkins and a cookie mix.  A tiny bit of effort can go a long way to making your family time extra special and creating memories.

We don't usually watch PG-13 movies for movie night, but we made an exception in this case.  It's definitely not for littler kids.  You can get all the content info here.  That aside... we loved Black Panther.  It was visually stunning, exciting and funny.  My son absolutely loved it and my daughter remarked how she liked how powerful the women are in the movie.

Pro tip... if you're not in the mood to iron a tablecloth, just "scrunch" it and pretend that's a thing.

The napkins brought in the theme and the extras will go in lunchboxes for school.

Does anyone else watch Chef's Table?  We loved Christina Tosi's episode and I squealed with joy when I spotted this mix.  This was an easy and delicious movie night treat.

Black Panther... confetti cookies... sounds like a pretty solid Friday night to me!

Does your family watch American Ninja Warrior?  We love this show at our house.  It's so positive, inspiring, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat!  We found ourselves a few episodes behind so we used Movie Night to catch up.  This set inspired our themed dinner buffet.

This box came with all kinds of ANW-themed party goods.  We only used a small amount of the stuff inside for this night, leaving the rest for other viewings.  I know we will get a lot of value out of this one party set.

The wristbands from the box were a huge hit with my kids, as were the headbands!

You know temporary tattoos are always a treat.

We brought the kids these shirts from our NYC trip last fall.  They were fully decked out and in the Ninja Warrior spirit!

The napkin design is really cool and the medals make a fun accessory too.  I used star plates left over from the 4th of July and they mixed in nicely.

I've mentioned my quesadilla maker is getting a lot of use this summer... such an easy dinner!

Serving buffet style made it easy for all my little ninjas to load up their plates.

This dessert isn't the most photogenic, but it's one of my husband's all-time favorites... sopapilla cheesecake.
