Elvis and Me

We are Elvis fans (who isn't) and this book by Priscilla Presley was fascinating.  Can you believe she was 14 years old when her parents let her start dating the biggest star in the world?  It's romantic, it's revealing, and extremely personal.  This one was hard to put down!  Elvis and Me is a delightful dose of pop culture.

Empty Mansions

This was by far my favorite read of the summer.  I spent my entire beach trip talking about it to my family.  This non-fiction account dives into the life of one of America's wealthiest and most reclusive heiresses.  Empty Mansions offers a glimpse into an extraordinary life spanning 105 years.

Love Lives Here

If you're a fan of Bob Goff, you'll love this book by his wife, affectionately known as Sweet Maria.  Love Lives Here is an encouragement to mothers everywhere.  Tales of finding the joy in everything and living with bold faith will leave you inspired.

The Summer Wives

Warning, this one gets a little Rated R at times, but it's romantic and captivating.  The Summer Wives takes you off for a glamorous summer on an island where outsiders aren't welcome and mystery unfolds.  I was gripped by this book!

Lilly:  Palm Beach, Tropical Glamour, and the Birth of a Fashion Legend

IMG_0236.JPG

If you're a Lilly girl like me, this is a must-read!  I love to learn about those who lead spectacular lives.  Lilly lets you inside the life of the woman behind our favorite summer prints.  I passed on the other books in this stack to friends, but this one gets to live on my coffee table.

What are you reading these days?  Happy Tuesday!

Tuesday Treats: Summer Fun

My family is doing our best to soak up every bit of summer before school starts in a few weeks.  Here are a few treats I'm enjoying on these lazy days.

Purse Flair

I love to add seasonal flair to my big mom bag.  This tassel and flamingo (similar here) can't help but make you smile!

Beach Towel Clips

Speaking of flamingos, how cute are these?!?  They are a pool and beach essential for us.  I have a ton in my pool bag, but my daughter and I always go for the flamingos... obviously!

Beauty Boxes

I'm all about happy mail, and I love my subscription to the Walmart beauty box.  It's just $5 a box, four times a year.  Since it only comes quarterly, I'm always pleasantly surprised when it shows up in my mailbox.

So far I've tried both the hair and face masks and I really enjoyed them.

Mermaid Bread

IMG_9830.JPG

I am completely addicted to the ClickList pick-up system at my grocery, so I rarely go inside anymore.  Imagine my delight when I popped in the other day and spotted a whole display of mermaid desserts.  How fun is that?  I took home the mermaid bread and it's been a treat.  Well played, King Soopers. (Which is Kroger in other places.)

Quesadilla Maker

Quick meals are in order for lazy summer days, so my quesadilla maker is getting a lot of use.  I served some up to my sister one day and she promptly went home and declared to her husband they need one.  Ours was a wedding gift and I don't think they make it any more because it's super expensive on Amazon.  This one is the same idea.  Love it!

If you need me, I'll be right here.  Happy Tuesday, friends!

Welcome to a new feature, Tuesday Treats!  Each week I plan to share a few things that just make me happy.  I hope to spread the happiness to you and encourage everyone to look for simple pleasures each day.

 Hillstone's Flying Chicken Platter

IMG_9120.JPG

This probably qualifies as "kid food" but it's one of my favorite meals.  Growing up in Dallas we loved to eat at Houston's.  Denver has Hillstone (which is basically the same) but it's not super close to my house.  This weekend, however, my husband and I went for lunch and I was just tickled to get to have some of my favorite chicken tenders.  I love the batter... the sauces... the skinny fries... it's all too good!

Flamingo Necklace

I've been eyeing this for weeks and finally took the plunge.  I mean, I NEEDED this flamingo necklace, right?  It seems like they are going quickly, so snag one now if you want it!

Coffee in Bed

IMG_9416.JPG

I've decided at the ripe old age of 40 I don't need to sleep extra late, but I relish a morning when I can simply sit in bed and slowly enjoy my coffee before I get going for the day.  The summer allows this just about every day and I'm in heaven!  Like I said... simple pleasures.

High Heels Phone Stand

Is this not the cutest thing?  I found it here.  I love watching Instagram Stories or Marco Polos from my girlfriends while I get ready in the morning.  This stand is perfect.  Love it!

What's making you smile this week?
