Around here, we love Ferdinand! We (kind of) transported ourselves to Spain for this one.
My grandmother gave me this book at my baby shower for my son, in a darling basket full of classic books. Needless to say, it's been one of our favorites for a long time, so we were thrilled to learn this story was becoming a movie.
I could not resist picking up Beanie Boo Ferdinands for my kids. Look at him!
I served dinner buffet-style on the kitchen island. It was Spanish-tapas inspired. I say inspired because it ended up being more Mediterranean. (Perhaps because I picked most of this up at my grocery store's "Mediterranean bar.") It was still in the tapas tradition of multiple appetizers. What I loved most was that my kids enjoyed several things they don't usually eat. Movie night is a great excuse to switch things up.
For dessert, I have a rosette cake pan and I wanted to make little red velvet rose cakes since Ferdinand loves flowers. For whatever reason, they were a flop. I was so sad! It was darling in my mind... ha!
The movie is sweet and funny. Who can resist Kate McKinnon as Lupe the calming goat?!?!?
