Movie Night: Fun in Acapulco

Movie NightAmy WileyComment

I hope you are ready for a real fiesta because a fun weekend lies ahead and it starts with movie night!  Yes, Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby are both tomorrow which means we have plenty to celebrate.  Our table is decked out for the festivities!

We are heading south of the border and you'll never guess who is taking us:  ELVIS!  Yes, we are going retro with Fun in Acapulco

Now, this movie isn't one that should necessarily be part of your home-school curriculum on Mexican culture.  However, what it lacks in authenticity it makes up for in music, fun and well... Elvis.  Throw in some cliff diving and an adorable kid and you've got a spectacular movie to get you in the spirit for Cinco de Mayo.

Elvis says, "Come on in, the water's fine!"

These tiny pinatas from Target made for a charming centerpiece.  My kids are disappointed they are not filled with candy, but they are way too darling smash!

I picked up these napkins at Hobby Lobby to pair with my plates and placemats I had on hand.

I don't even need an excuse for Tex Mex, so this was an easy one.  Our menu includes chicken fajitas, southwest salad and chips and Trader Joe's Reduced-Guilt Guacamole.

I made sopapilla cheesecake for dessert, much to my husband's delight.  A great meal, an indulgent treat and a delightful movie... happy Friday... Ole!
